USPTO

USPTO is an acronym for United States Patent and Trademark Office which is the agency in the US Department of Commerce that receives and issues trademark registrations for individuals and businesses. It also issues patents to inventors.

Trademarks are important in websites. As a website buyer, perform a trademark search at USPTO’s website to find out who the owner is and whether the website for sale is using all indicated trademarks legally. Avoid purchasing websites that use trademarked words, logos, or marks without the permission of the trademark owners.
