Retainer Fee

January 24, 2014  |     |     |   0 Comment

A retainer fee is an upfront fee paid by a client to a consultant to secure the use of the consultant’s services. The fee is to ensure that the consultant is retained and committed to serve the client.

It does not necessarily include fees charged for providing the services desired by the client. The consultant generally charges other fees on an hourly- or project-basis as the actual work is performed.
