DMOZ or Open Directory Project (ODP) is a directory of websites. The directory is updated and maintained by volunteer editors. Website owners submit their website URL and description to these editors for them to be added to appropriate categories and subcategories within the directory. Not all websites are included.
Because inclusion into this directory is managed by editors who carefully evaluate and screen websites, inclusion is considered one of many important factors that search engines use to determine the quality of a website in order to rank it in their search results for specific keywords.
