Banner Blindness

August 01, 2014  |     |     |   0 Comment

Banner blindness refers to a theory that website users tend to automatically ignore banner ads because of the ubiquity of advertising on the Internet. Users “tune out” ads.

Internet users are constantly bombarded by advertisements that unconsciously, they no longer see them. Hence click-through rates on banner ads (or text ads) tend to be very low. Often CTR is less than 2%.
